Why don t you call up the stores you used to frequent and ask them? Or ask someone in your classes if they ve had any luck doing this?

Can anyone tell me the swatching policies of several fabric stores in Manhattans Fashion District? -
I m a design student trying to create several womenswear lines and I m in desperate need of swatches for each of them. I m aware of a few places that have strict swatching hours early Saturday morning, which I used to go to, but currently, I am unable to go at that time. Some places also enforce a limit on the number of swatches, which is not conducive to my situation. I understand that these stores are running businesses and swatching is purely done as a courtesy, but swatches are a required and essential part of any design curriculum project. Still, a large percentage of the people that contribute to the stores business were design students at one point, right? It wouldn t hurt to be a little more accommodating to their future client base... Just a thought. The commute to the Fashion District is about 45 minutes for me, so I want to have an ultimate destination rather than risk going and being turned down everywhere. Is there anywhere that offers swatches on a more lenient basis, preferably free of charge? Bonus if they have an extensive collection of fabrics.
