Will travel from washington dc to california.? -

Can i just use my passport if im traveling from washington, dc to california? because right now im processing my green card and i havent got the papers in replacement in renewing my green card/temporary green card. so can i just use my passport? and btw my visa is expired but my passport itself is not.
