So you ll be okay getting around the city.Since you going to Canal Street, if you re take Metro-North from New Haven, take the down town (southbound) #6 train (Green Line on the subway map) from Grand Central to Canal Street.If you re taking Amtrak from Hartford to Penn Station New York, you can take the downtown (southbound) A , C or E (Blue Line), or the #1 train (Red Line) to Canal Street.In regards Rockefeller Center, you can take the uptown (northbound)) N , R , W or Q train (Yellow Line) from Canal Street to 34th Street, where a transfer can be made to the B , D , F or V train (Orange Line) to Rockefeller Center.The fare on the subway is $2.25 a person, per trip. However, since you re in town for a day, may I recommend purchasing a 1-day unlimited ride MetroCard for $8.25 a person.
