Are there any forests in texas? -

around the dallas area? or a big woodsy typ place?

Yes, there are small forests and large forests in Texas. A forest is different from a woodland. A forest must have trees with overlapping crowns forming 60% to 100% cover. Woodlands are more open, with 25% to 60% cover. Most of the larger forests are in South and East Texas, but the Dallas area has many woodlands and small forests. Most wooded areas follow the low lying river or creek areas due to the flood plains. Yes, there are wooded areas, even around the Dallas area. Most of them are relatively short trees. Even within 45 minutes to an hour from the center of Dallas. We live about an hour and 15 minutes from downtown Dallas and there are lots of wooded areas around us.
