South Austin may be a good choice for you. It s close to downtown so there s plenty of good bar tending as well as other employment opportunities. Although St. Edward s is on South Congress, it s not really considered the university area. There are several dog parks in the area for you and your pup. For country music, it s hard to beat the Broken Spoke on South Lamar. Rent can be a bit pricey though, so it makes sense to take a good look around if you can.

I have decided to move to Austin, but now I need to decide where in Austin. Help? -
I am a 28 yr old female, I could probably get a bar-tending job, or work in travel/tourism or marketing but I am a writer. I am moving alone except for my big dog. I need to be around some sort of country music scene, and I need a town that doesn t close at 10pm. But at the same time isn t college party central. Any ideas??
