What does the flag for Louisiana colors mean?- blue,gold, and white? -

Im doing this project about Louisiana and i need to know what the colors of the flag represents. I know what the bird mean i just need to know what the colors mean. I know blue stands for truth but I dont know what the others stand for. Please help. Also i wanted to know what the motto means and the nickname for the state. Thanks alotSorry if this is confusing.
