Where to stay 1 night Denver en route to Estes Park? -

We are flying into Denver December 23 very late in the evening and traveling on to Estes Park the next morning. I was trying to find somewhere to stay the 23rd where the kids (9 and 10) would have fun spending the morning of the 24th. Any suggestions? We would like to be up in Estes Park by 4:00.

If you are getting in late at night, especially in December at Christmas time at DIA, I would strongly suggest getting a hotel near the airport. There could be lots of snow or no snow at all, and the airport is going to be a madhouse, plus if there is a blizzard, driving late at night could be unpleasant. You will want to get on E-470 (toll road) north to I-25 to go to Estes Park. You could get off the Toll Road and go to Barr Lake State Park in the morning. It is a lovely lake with a hiking trail and lots of interesting birds and they could maybe play in the snow. (That s what I liked to do at 10, but ???)There is also a big box shopping center just north of the E-470 / I-25 interchange where they could look around??

oh man estes park is the best couple of things you have to do when you get there. Ok go up rocky mountain natinal park if its not closed we havent had much snow so you might be able to go oh man what a view but be a confident driver some pretty narrow drive up there. Second you have to go to rocky mountain wilderness tours ask around town they will give you some direction now again they might be closed for the winter. Oh and in estes park they have a tram that goes up thee mountain another must. and they have some put put golf courses and things of that nature my advice get to estes then have fun. hope this helps and get ready for some great views on the drive up and when you get there hope this helpsJoshua

I would just find a hotel with an indoor pool. I remember that s all i cared about when I was a kid. I remember one vacation we went on, there was horrible weather the whole week, but we had an indoor pool and us kids had the best vacation ever :)The only problem will be getting them out when it s time to leave.
