Whats hawaiis economy like? -

specifically oahu.

For Oahu, the economy is all about the tourism forecast. I have attached the state government s economic report link below for the City and County of Honoluluhttp://hawaii.gov/dbedt/info/economic/daHere are the monthly stats for County of Honolulu, and you will see we are:* Up to 6.3% unemployment* Excise/Use tax revenue down to $1.4 billion/year from $1.6 billion a year ago* Building permits down 21% from last year* Visitor days down to 22.4 million days from 22.9 million days (but remember that there are huge discounts for air, rooms and services so the margins lost are larger than this would appear* Median price homes down 7.7%, condos 8%Note that we were already in a recession last year!!http://hawaii.gov/dbedt/info/economic/daHere are the monthly stats since 1990:http://hawaii.gov/dbedt/info/economic/da

Some current stats. They dont generally separate Oahu, sorry.http://www.bls.gov/eag/eag.hi.htmIt appears they are in a similar situation as the mainland.. searching the news stories ( under hawaii economy) I found some good videos while answering a similar question last week. One of these is a CNN video showing the prices of goods. All which have to be imported. The next one covers rental prices. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_qu This is a neat little cost of living calculator on CNN Money. You can compare prices between cities. http://cgi.money.cnn.com/tools/costoflivHawaii s newspaper http://www.starbulletin.com/news/
