If you just want to take a ride on a public road that runs through the sugar cane fields, I would suggest the stretch of US Hwy 27 between Clewiston and Moore Haven. There s also State Road 720, which also runs between Clewiston and Moore Haven, but that road gets you further back into the thick of things. Here s a map of the area that shows both 27 and 720... http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=m lat=26.7932 There s a Sugarland Tour that operates out of the town of Clewiston. The tour is supposed to take you to a sugar farm, a sugar refinery, and toss in a little bit of local history, too. Here s the link...http://www.clewiston-fl.gov/index.asp?TyI ve never heard of cotton or peanuts grown in South Florida.
Clewiston is billed as the sweetest town in Florida with cane fields all around it. It is in the center of the state on the west side of Lake Okeechobee. If the other link posted by the other person doesn t work, contact the chamber of commerce in Clewiston for a tour. There is also another drive on SR 80 from West Palm Beach west towards Belle Glade that has lots of cane fields. No cotton or peanuts grown in South Florida.
