Seminole County.Very family oriented, low crime, one of the top school districts in the state, nice suburban neighborhoods. Lots of waterways and lakes, parks and nature trails. Known for High Tech and Finance jobs. More diverse economy. Job market rough now though.Areas to check out:Forest CityAltamonte SpringsCasselberryOviedo Winter SpringsLake MaryHeathrowSanford
It of course depends on your price point. There are lots of shady areas.1) avoid Pine Hills (or as we say Crime Hills) (which is west of I4 up to SilverStar Road, ish)2) avoid MetroWest and the Kirkman area3) avoid living too close to Disney---lots of traffic, poor schools.4)I personally would recommend the Waterford Lakes area, the new up and coming Lake Nona area, and Lake MaryLake Nona is where our new medical center will be at. Not sure when it s supposed to be completed, but currently there are lots of properties out there for sale, since the economy changed when they started construction. I would go to the city s webpages to get specific stats and ratings on schools and crime. Good Luck!
Clermont, but that s not in Orlando, it s near it. However, I don t particularly recommend the Orlando area and moved away from it in July after 5 years.Orlando is #6 on Forbes list of the Most Dangerous US cities based on violent crime statistics. Unemployment is high. It s overpriced for it s worth, and newcomers are a dime a dozen...that s why the foreclosure rate is so high.
Dr Phillips and the Hunter s Creek area are 2 good places to live. Both are close to highways and attractions, shopping , hospitals etc and have great schools. Both are relatively safe and a good place to raise a family.
Windermere, Winter Garden, Clermont, Winter Park, and Lake Mary are all good areas with good schools. They are all very different so you need to check them out to see what you like best.Just know that the job market is awful in Orlando.
