I live in southern cali, do i need a passport ? -

to go on a cruise to mexico? im am planning on going august 2010, i have an original copy of my birth certificate, but im not sure what the rules are now. thanks!

If Youre American citizen you need your passport at the time you fly or cruise to a foreign country. The only place you don t need passport to fly or cruise is in the US States and Territory s (that include American Samoa, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, and others). I strong recommend you to apply for the passport and the passport id, new regulations said you can fly or cruise with a passport id.Please use the source link to learn more in State Department- Travels.

If your cruise is arriving at the same U.S. port as it has departed from (close- loop cruise) you only need your U.S. birth certificate and a government/state/county issued picture ID for the journey.http://getyouhome.gov/html/lang_eng/eng_ ..https://help.cbp.gov/cgi-bin/customs.cfg ..However most cruise lines recommend their passengers should hold a valid U.S. passport; just think about to be stuck in a Mexican hospital on severe sickness and not be able to be repatriated on a flight due to the lack of holding a U.S. passport.

yes you definately do. if you re going to a different country, no matter what, you need a passport.

i think you have to.. you should always have that with you just in case.. youll never know

You need a passport now
