Depending on your money, I would suggest Lincoln Park or Lakeview. Look for a building with a doorman and close to public transportation. If you can afford it, look at the buildings at 1350 and 1360 Lakeshore Drive. Just north is an older building that has rental condos. Also along Dearboorn Street.

The best places are expensive, the North Shore, Edgebrook, Sauganash. Lakeview is not bad, Wicker Park is okay. I can t say that any place is entirely safe for a single girl to live.
there is no safe place for a single girl to live anywhere in the world. take a roommate. all the gay folk will say north side because that s all they know and they are not ashamed of that.
Almost all the suburbs are nice, if you wanna move to the city, live in the north side
