Safest places to live in Atlanta? -

What are the safest apartments in Atlanta? I can spend up to around $1400 a month. I have to have a car, so somewhere to park is necessary. And, of course, it needs to be in a safe area. I m moving to Atlanta to pursue acting. So, an apartment complex in an area with theatres, studios, etc would be great, but at least in close driving distance would be still be good. Any help with this would be great.

Sandy Springs / Dunwoody is a nice as is the Smyrna / Vinings area. I am not a big fan of living in Buckhead and Midtown because to be honest they can be hit or miss with the crowd at night time because of the clubs and there are some pockets that are less desirable mixed in there. Most things that are in north Atlanta (285 between 75n and 85n) are pretty safe and have an easy commute to the city. The 85n side of north Atlanta is also close to Marta rail transit which is safe on the north side of the city, but I would not recommend taking it to or below the 5 points station or travel on the east/west line at any time other than peak business hours.

Atlanta is a huge place - the Metro Area covers about 1500 sq ml. It depends where you have to get to. Get out of the Metro area and pretty much anywhere is okay to live. I don t suggest living any closer. I used to live some miles NE of Atlanta and I know most of the places heading down the I85/I95 corridors and they re great places to live - but assholes if you need to commute to SW Atlanta.Hip Trendy places like Buckhead (used to be before they knocked all the bars down...) and $1400/month won t buy you squat. You ve to decide, IMHO, which region in which you want to work and work outwards from the 85,285,75 or whichever Interstate route is nearest and look for something along that route.I personally love Athens, GA, and some of its suburbs are fantastic -but, again, it s no good if you ll get snarled-up twice a day on the I85/I75/I285 junction.

Little Five Points or North Druid Hills would probably be the best area to live. It s not the safest area to live in, but through all of my experiences in Atlanta it s been safer than almost any other part of the inner city.

Live near Riverdale in Clayton County and not there live near Fayetteville in Fayette County

An acting career in Atlanta? Virtually all of the theaters are in downtown or midtown, neither are safe places to live.

I used to live in Sandy Springs ,,, that was nice area but it has been a while!!

For a recent college graduate, whats a good city in California to move that is not all hype? -

What would you rec for the best starting city to move in California, not named Los Angeles. I d like to live close to the beach, but are there any other places/neighborhoods that you prefer over say San Diego and why? Thanks

I hate to rain on your parade but my recommendation is that you NOT move to California...at least not for another 10 years. This state is more and more messed up each year that the actor is at the helm. The economy is this state is absolutely devastated and I don t see that improving until at least 2015-2020. More and more businesses that a recent graduate would want to work for are moving out of the state because of the state economy and slow to recover housing market. Do yourself a favor and move to Seattle, WA or Arlington, VA. The job and housing markets are much more robust in those cities than anywhere in California right now.

what part of the beach and why? thats important info. i suggest moving near the bay area. vallejo is a good choice, its about half way between sacramento and san fransisco (about an hour from both), and its not to huge. its got all the conveniences of a goodsized city, but the affordability of a smaller town. it has nice housing and a location that gives you easy access to two way bigger cities for the bigger conveniences. that location also allows you to WORK in either of those two cities, doubling your local work opportunities. the bay area is clean, and cooler than the rest of california (70s and 80s year round isntead of 80s and 90s year round).

Well, Southern California is out. Over crowded and worn out. Look for something in mid California or Northern California. It is a long state and most people have traditionally gone for the southern part of it leaving the the middle and northern parts rather un-exploited.I like the San Francisco area, but not in the city....something in one of the towns around San Fran.

None. California s unemployment is higher than the rest of the country. Taxes are very high and so is the cost of living. If you do not have a job in hand, then do not move out here.

Long Beach because its made of win :]

What is the quickest way to get to EMPIRE STATE BUILDING from the WALDORF ASTORIA? -

just walk its cheaper and its good for you its about 20 blocks but its fun walking in the middle of manhattan

By public transportation. To change the date and time go to show options :http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d source=sBy walking;http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d source=sGood luck!

The subway is the question way. The trip take about 10 minutes and fare is $2.25 each way. From the Waldorf-Astoria, take the downtown (southbound) #6 train from 51st Street to 33rd Street.Once at at 33rd Street, exit the subway and walk three blocks west along 33rd Street from Park Avenue South to 5th Avenue. You can t miss it.Good luck
