How does Roman Architecture influence Washington DC buildings today? -

I need to do a project on this, and i would like to know how Roman Architecture influences Washington DC buildings today. Include the names of the buildings please :) thanks!

Gee, I dunno.Ancient Roman Parthenonhttp://www.athenasweb.com/img/Athena/ParLincoln Memorialhttp://www.hudsonphoto.com/images/LandmaAnd whatever you do, don t look at the link below. As it may be too easy a shortgun in getting your assignment completed.

A significant number of buildings in DC that belong to the federal government are based on neoclassical architectural designs, which in turn is based off Greco-Roman classical architecture. The reason for such a large number of buildings based off that style could be because of a need to associate the US government with the earliest forms of republicanism. Some that come to mind are Union Station, the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, the Capital building, some of the buildings on the Smithsonian Institute, the Department of Treasury building, and the Supreme Court building.

Just by chance, this isn t for an ART101 class is it? Check out the Capitol building in DC, from there you can get your easy comparisons to the numerous famous roman buildings.
