Is living in La going to be as good as living in Manhattan? -

im moving to LA and have a few questions. Is the nightlife good there? Is hockey a big sport their? Isd it a big change from living in manhattan and what is a typical girl like there?

I ve heard a lot of people complain that LA shuts down too soon here. The nightlife is pretty good, but it s not like in Manhattan. It s not as concentrated, since LA is much more spread out. Hockey: Nobody cares about it.Yeah, it will be a big change. Biggest problem I have with New Yorkers is that they come out here bitching that nothing is like it is in NY. Of course. It s LA. For better or worse, that s the way it is. The weather is a LOT better (when it gets below 60 degrees here, people think it s cold), and there s more variety here.See my other answer to your question as well.

There s some good night life in LA. But, everyone drives and you wouldn t want to be caught dead riding on a metro bus. There aren t subways to get around town and people don t like to walk far in LA. Plus, the Los Angeles metropolitan area is so spread out that personal cars have always been the main mode of transportation.LA does have an NHL team (the Kings) that used to be pretty good, sucked for a long time, but that s doing well this year. But, LA isn t what you would call a hockey town. I wouldn t even really call them a big sports town. Sure, there s the Lakers and they sell out all the time (plus many celebrities have season seats). But, there s no NFL football, and even Dodgers fans are known to show up after the 3rd inning and leave before the 7th.Coming from Manhattan, I would imagine that you would be rather disappointed (disillusioned?) with LA. I grew up on the LA/Orange County line and I think it s very overrated. People there - especially girls - are often more interested in being seen wearing the trendy fashions or at the trendy stores, clubs, restaurants, etc., and come across as being stuck up or conceited. And, I think you would actually be happier some place like Chicago or San Francisco than LA. They re more like a traditional big eastern city, where LA is the epitome of urban sprawl.

I m not from L.A. I m from San Diego, but L.A. has plenty to do, it s just very spread out, not like Manhattan where a walk around the block can get you a place to eat or find entertainment. Night life is busy, but people are much more open in California than the east coast. Girls? Watch out -- many are extremely self absorbed in L.A. I ve been to Manhattan twice, and I will never go back. You may say the same about Los Angeles, then again, you may love it. Just for the record, in my opinion, San Diego is by far the best city (and it s suburbs -- San Diego County) in the U.S.
