Which city would I prefer? Boston or Seattle? -

Here is my dilemma. I am 24 y/o and currently live in Michigan and I have been unemployed for the past six months. I am looking to move somewhere else to find work, seeing that there is barely anything here in my field as a registered Cat Scan/X-Ray technologist. I have noticed while looking for jobs nationwide Seattle and Boston are two areas that have the most jobs. Plus I love the water and I would love to live near the coast! :) Seeing that I have a better chance getting hired while living in those states, I am thinking of leaving MI soon to find work. And while I have heard great things about both cities, I have heard the bad. So I would like some help deciding based on my needs.-I have heard that Boston is really racist, is this true? I am biracial (half Caucasian/half African-American)-Where are the safest parts in Seattle and Boston?-What is the culture like in these cities? (things to do, sports, etc.)-Would it be easier to get around by public transportation? And if there is anything else you would like to add about these cities, please let me know! Thanks!

I was born in Seattle, raised in Boston, and lived in Seattle for a year up until a couple months ago.1. Boston is not really racist. I m white, my best friend is black, we grew up together there and never caught hell for it. I never caught hell for dating Asian or black or Latin girls, as I generally did - when my Asian ex and I went out to Concord (about a half an hour outside the city, quaint little expensive New England town) to visit my family, we got a lot of *stares* at the supermarket, but they weren t hostile, just curious, since that area is 98% white.2. People in Seattle come across polite and friendly, but ultimately, could care less about you. Friends are very hard to come by. People in Boston come across cold and indifferent, but ultimately, are friendly and genuinely care about you. Friends in Boston are very easy to come by. In Seattle, I found people to be passive-aggressive, but in Boston, people are more forward.3. Boston is one of the best culinary cties in the US, whereas Seattle is a culinary black hole, aside from the best seafood in the continental US - though Boston has better lobster... Seattle gets a chubby over designer bacon and fancy cupcakes - ghetto gourmet they call it. Boston has some of the best chefs in America and dining out is a cultural institution.4. In Seattle, bars exist to go to with friends you already have, which doesn t help much i you re new to town, or to go to alone to sit at the bar, which also doesn t help much. The bar is shorter than you ll find in most cities, and instead, they tend to have more tables, much like a restaurant. In Boston, bars/pubs are bigtime social hubs, more like in the UK. The Boston standoffishness is pretty much gone in any bar or pub.5. The winters in Boston are more brutal in temperature, but you still get sun in the dead of winter... even if it s only 2 degrees and there s snow frozen on the ground. Seattle doesn t get as cold in the winter - or as hot in the summer - but it is more consistently grey... from mid-October to mid-April, don t expect to see much sun! Boston was MUCH more brutal for springtime allergies for me than Seattle ever was though.

SEATTLE !
