How close are Disneys Old Key West Resorts to the Boardwalk area? Could I walk or take a boat there? -

I am staying there over christmas, but i would like to be able to go hang out at the boardwalk on my own for a night. Im sure I can figure it out when i get there... I was just wondering what transportation I will have to use.

cant take a boat there, key west is between saratoga and port orleans. i have gone running from saratoga down that road to key west and bus drivers are very rude since there is no side walk just grass. the grass was wet so i was on the side of the road and they honked all the time. no jogger friendly that area or walking. you can walk to saratoga (be careful) and take the bridge to downtown disney from there you can find a bus to either the boardwalk hotel or swan and that will drop you where you want to go.

It s about a 10 minute drive from Old Key West to The Boardwalk, and well worth the visit. You definitely can t walk it, because you d be walking on major roads with no paths or sidewalks. It would be very dangerous, not to mention long.Your travel options:1. Take a cab: 10 minutes. Will cost $10-$20.2. Take the bus (free) to Epcot. From Epcot you can walk to the Boardwalk in 5-10 minutes by going through the World Showcase entrance. Of course you d have to have a park ticket used that day to walk through the park. You can also opt to take the boat from Epcot to Boardwalk once the bus drops you off there. Either way, you re looking at about a 45 minute journey with the stops.3. Take a bus (free) to Blizzard Beach. Wait for the bus transfer (also free) that takes you to The Boardwalk. With wait time, this also will take about 45 minutes. There are unfortunately not buses from one resort to another, which is really frustrating. You have to get a bus to one of the parks, and then transfer to another bus. When I stayed at The Boardwalk we had to do this to get to The Polynesian Contemporary for dinners. I highly suggest just getting a cab, which will be readily available at the front door of your hotel. They really aren t too expensive and save you a lot of time. Here s the Disney Transportation Wizard - it s a great tool for figuring out the best ways to get to places in WDW.http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/asp/twiz
