I need a phone for New York ASAP! HELP!? -

I m leaving for New York very soon (as in just over 24 hours). I live in Canada.I need to get my hands on a cell phone. I have a cell over here, but there is no way I can add a plan to it to avoid the cost of long distance calls in NYC (it s a long story - I just can t). I expect to have quite a few calls and I will be over there for up to a month (with the first call being minutes after I get off the plane).SO! I need a temporary phone. Here s the problem: I ve never gotten a temporary phone. Where do I go? Do I get one before I leave or after I arrive? How expensive is it likely to be?Cell phone rates are super high here, and if I go down there and use my phone I ll probably be spending $200+ on long distance minutes within the first week. Not cool. If I leave my phone behind then I have no way of getting in contact with those I must contact.Is it even possible to get a cell phone for only a few weeks?

You can buy a prepaid cell phone. They also call them disposable. Those are available at grocery and convenient stores.Example for convenient store is 7-Eleven. Also try to ask the customer service/information desk at the airport or the taxi driver.
