Do people in Hawaii mostly listen to American music? or East Asian music like Japanese and Korean music? -

depends who you hang out with. theres a lot who listens to japanese and korean. its like the thing a majority of teenagers listen to American bands. and the adults listen to mostly hawaiian

A few years ago, I chaperoned an 8th grade dance on Molokai where the girls would only dance to hip-hop, and the boys would only dance to reggae. The most popular genre of music in Hawaii is probably a Hawaiian version of reggae that used to be called Jawaiian (KCCN or Native 92.5 for a taste of that). The next is probably more straight up, contemporary Hawaiian music (KINE Hawaiian 105 or KPOA). Country, oldies, adult contemporary , and hip-hop are somewhat popular in different crowds. You do get interesting combinations like Christian Hawaiian Reggae (Testafiyah), Paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) music, or Hawaiian Rap:I m very thankful, I ve got much aloha to give, Very happy situated with this life I live. What can I say, and who could ask for anything more?Ha-ha! Paradise in Hawaii, Hilo!( Paradise Found by Sudden Rush)You won t find a lot of hard core rock and roll, heavy metal, that kind of thing here. You will only find a few individuals who enjoy Cantopop or other East Asian genres, usually those with a direct interest in one of those cultures.

It depends on your taste. Some do. Some don t.Popular music would be on 100.3 (Local Music) and 102.7 and 104.3 for more American Popular music.
