What is the job market in Boston like? -

Wondering if its just as bad as everywhere else? My friend is temping around the boston area, his family lives in a suburb, and he wants me to possibly come up from NJ and get an apt and temp with him. My concerns are that boston is too expensive to live in and around on just a temp job making $12 an hour especially if you dont know if your actually going to get any work.

Boston is EXTREMELY expensive to live in. Even places that are just on the outskirts of Boston charge an obscene amount of money. In Woburn, which is like 20 mins from Boston, you will be able to find a studio apartment the size of a closet for about $800 a month- no less. For a good sized two or one bedroom apartment you are looking in the range of $950 - $1500 a month WITHOUT utilities. Boston is a very very very expensive place to live in- it is not affordable with a $12 an hour salary.

That doesn t sound like a good plan; find the job first. look on Monster.com, etc. to get a feel for your area of (work) interest in Boston.
