Driving to new york city from binghamton,ny(upstate)where can i park and ride into the city? -

Me and my friends are going to the city for the macys thanksgiving day parade. We live in upstate new york in binghamton.Normally its about a 3 to 3 1/2 hour drive. But id like to park my car somewhere safe outside of the city(somewhere along the way)and get a train into the city?I need to know this by tomorrow so please answer!Best and quickest answer gets the 10 points.Just please advise along the route of ny-17 or 81 i can park and get a train, also please let me know about how long it takes on the train and how much each round trip ticket costs.

Many years ago, there was a commuter service that offered parking in a lot just off the New Jersey Turnpike west of the Lincoln Tunnel, and transportation into the city by bus for a fixed daily fee. Don t know if that option is still available. If I were doing it today, I would probably park at one of the commuter rail stations north of the City - Poughkeepsie is northernmost option, but there are several options in Westchester County that are closer to the city. Pick a station that is served by MetroNorth rail service (into Grand Central) rather than Amtrak (Penn Station).

Don t even think about driving into the City, because there will be a lot of street closures. There is also a holiday gridlock alert in effect until December 23. Therefore, I would highly recommend parking your car in one of the many parking garages in either Jersey City or Hoboken, NJ and take the PATH train into the City. The links below shows the location of parking garages near PATH Train station in both City.Grove Street Stationhttp://maps.google.com/maps?near=Grove+SExchange Place Stationhttp://maps.google.com/maps?near=ExchangPavonia/Newport Stationhttp://maps.google.com/maps?near=PavoniaHoboken Stationhttp://maps.google.com/maps?near=HobokenJournal SquareParking is available at the Journal Square Transportation Center on two decks through a privately owned parking facility, LAZ Parking. For additional information, please call (201) 216-6744.Once you park your car in either Jersey City or Hoboken, you can take the PATH train into and out of the City. The fare on the PATH is $1.75 each way, pre person.I hope this information was very helpful.
