Beaches in Dallas, Tx? If so are they warm in January? -

So, we want a beach vacation. Going in January. Thought about going to Dallas so we could visit TD Jakes church, The Potter s house. Are there beaches nearby that you can actually swim at? and if so what are some of the beachfront hotels that are not luxury...I m talking about like a Best Western or something..

Dallas is about 250 miles from the Gulf of Mexico so it would not be a short drive for you.There is a lake near the Potter s house, but no beach, and it is too cold to get in the water this time of year. There are several decent motels not too far from the church.

Dallas is not on the coast!There are some lakes near Dallas, but too cold to swim (on the average) in January.The nearest real beach is Galveston, which is roughly 290 miles from Dallas.The weather in Galveston is quite variable in January, but on the average fairly cool and cloudy. Not freezing, but not great beach weather.

There are no beaches in Dallas. Dallas is in north Texas, not on the Gulf of Mexico. There are some lakes in the area with swimming areas, but it s much too cold to swim here in January.
