I know about all the must see places in the usa,but i want to stop in few small towns as well.any suggestions? -

I really enjoy Abingdon, Virginia. Especially in late summer they have the Highlands Festival which is pretty cool. There are tons of really neat small towns within that area. Bristol, Virginia/Tennessee has a really cool bluegrass festival at the beginning of Sept. on State Street called the Rhythm and Roots Festival. There is also Bristol Caverns which I thoroughly enjoyed. That area has TONS of nature trails and such as well as Skyline Drive. A few hours up I-81 is Wytheville- they have a German Dinner theater thing. I haven t seen the show- I just drank at the bar lol. There is also Asheville, NC which isn t too terribly far and they have the Biltmore Mansion which is awesome. You might want to try roadsideamerica.com - it has all these listings of offbeat roadside attractions. When me and my husband lived in Richmond, VA we d find random things and made a mini day trip out of it- example- we found a parade float museum we decided would be funny to see and on the way there found other fun stuff along the way such as caverns and wine tasting.
