Definitely fly into Hartsfield. If you don t want to rent a car, there is a shuttle that will take you to Columbus. (The shuttle bus won t be able to pass through the gate at Ft. Benning, so have whomever it is you re visiting, meet you at a designated point outside the gates.)

Columbus is closer that Atlanta. But it is really small, and it probably only flies to a small radius of cities. If you are flying across country you will probably have to fly into Atlanta and either drive to Fort Benning or catch a connection to Columbus and drive to Fort Benning (I think about 20 minutes from airport).

Other things to consider:1. You ll definitely get a flight into Atlanta HJ, maybe not into Columbus2. You ll pay far less for your flight into Atlanta, as it is a hub3.
