Need advice on NYC....? -

We are headed to NYC in mid December with 2 adults and 3 kids (10, 9 5). We live in S. Florida and I m going crazy trying to buy clothes for us before we go. My husband is saying it s not going to be that cold, but here we bundle up at 60 degrees. What types of clothes should I bring? What are some places to visit, especially with kids. We are planning on the touristy areas already (Empire State, Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center) but some other areas would be welcome. And if you know of any tours (preferably NOT walking tours!) We will be there for 10 days, so we have a lot of time and are staying close to the Park. Thank you for your help!

Your body and those of your family are not adapted to the climate difference, you bundle up at 60, while here in NYC 50 is still light jacket weather because we re used to the cold. Just bring what you know will keep you warm. In your case, it d probably be a heavy jacket and some thick gloves. just don t be surprised if you see one of us walking around in a thin sweater while you re shivering.

My friend, first of all it can get cold in mid December. Temperatures in the city can rage from the low 30s to the low 40s, which is a lot colder than in Florida. Therefore, I would recommend packing plenty of warm clothes. For example, jackets, sweaters, hat and gloves. In regards to tours, may I recommend Grey Line Sightseeing Tours, which is one of the best in the City. Its not a walking tour, it a bus tour. Wintercoats and hats should be enough.

I would say it will probably be cold. I live in Maryland and our weather is about the same. Some winters it is freezing other it not.. Be prepare for all kinds of weather including SNOW and lots of it.
