Im moving to Denver! Help me!? -

I m looking to move into the Denver area within the next six months. I know the job market isn t great right now, and I have 3 months of rent (at $850/mo) and bills saved up. I m going to start looking before the move but I don t think companies are going to be keen on flying me from Baltimore, where I live now, to interview. So do you think three months will be long enough to find a job? I m in the advertising/marketing field. Also, I ve heard good things about Lodo and Littleton. Could anyone tell me what zip codes Lodo is so I can look for some apartments? Are there areas of the city to definitely stay out of? Thanks!

I think three to six months is enough to find a job. Littleton is okay, its suburban but safe. Definitley need a car.Lodo is very expensive, dont go there blow all your money before you even get a job.Id suggest capitol hill for apartment hunting. Can get something nice for $500-700/month.

I know it is a bit tricky, but I would almost try to stay in an executive suite type place and try to live near where you work. Denver metro is a big place, and rush hour driving is a bear. I would suggest you join the Boulder Marcom Group. Excellent source for networking and learning about possible jobs.hrrp://www.bouldermarketinggroup.com/Lodo is great for singles, Littleton is a family oriented suburb. Very different places. I think Lodo is 80202.

In Your Job Field 3 Months Is Good Enough To Find A Job. Lodo and Littleton are good places to start Thornton which is north of Denver is a good area to check too. 80227 is the Denver zip code and if you are from out east there is nothing here that you havent seen Denver really doesnt have a ghetto just run down parts of town. Parts of East Coalfax are somewhat bad but nothing like you see out east or in L.A.

You are correct in thinking that most places would not pay for your flight to interview you. That only happens if the company is actively courting you to work for them.I would suggest that you let them know when you are planning on being in the city (in a letter ahead of time) and ask them to for a interview within the first few days of first relocating. In this way, if your first choices do not work out you still have time to search and find something else. I wish you the best.

My advice...look for something outside Denver, not too far that would be cheaper to get settled into and commute. I live 90 miles from Denver and I know hundreds of people who do it because it s so cheap where we live compared to Denver they can easily afford their gas with their good jobs. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

I can only answer part of your question. I think 3 months is enough time to find a job but it will be really hard to. My aunt has to keep quitting her jobs because her bosses are really mean. But she has found a job and it s been a lot longer then 3 months that it took her to find it.

I just moved to Potomac from Colorado Springs which is like 30 minutes from Denver, Its a wonderful place. Pueblo is somewhere you should avoid, everything bad happens there if it happens at all. Good luck and Im sure you will love it

DON T GO TO LITTLETON, that town has been pretty bad since Columbine I ve heard

I agree- Littleton is one of the nicer towns in the denver area. Also- colorado springs isnt 30 minutes from denver unless your driving about 150 miles per hour- its 30 minutes by plane lol. Its a nice town that you could see if you cant find a job in though- consider it (not driveable to denver though). Jobs arent going to pay for you to fly out there- at least not in this economy (too many locals to do that). Your probably going to be on your own with all expenses- if you get anyone to pay thats a huge bonus!!!!Dont forget about moving expenses too- driving out there with your car and stuff (and if you have more that what fits in a car- youll need a truck which is around 1000 or more- I know, I just did it a few months ago from the east coast- not cheap.

First of all, the person that said don t go to Littleton because its bad since Columbine has NO idea what they are talking about. Littleton is a great community and Columbine has done nothing but bring it together more. I would start sending out your resume to companies and seeing what they say, then maybe you could have a few interviews set up for right when you move out or maybe even make a weekend trip. You might want to try a staffing agency as well. http://www.jkentstaffing.com/http://www.aerotekcareers.com/Default.asthere are quite a few, and depending on your specialty, one might be better than the rest, just google staffing agencies in denver, co and several come up.Littleton in probably every bit of 30 minutes to the downtown area in traffic, LODO is right there, most of the areas are safe, although a few places are still in the process of turning around . I believe the zip code is 80202, you might also want to search by neighborhood name...DTC (that one is farther south, but nice area and you might find a job close by its filled with businesses) and Capitol Hill are two that come to mind immediately. More suburban type places with out too much commute would be Edgewater, Stapleton, Lakewood. Look on Craigslist too. Good Luck!
