I m going to be moving to NYC soon and I m starting to look into apartments in the Manhattan area. I m in my early 20s, I m a very artsy-fartsy type of person, I love visiting museums, doing anything creative, shopping, and going to restaurants. I don t really like to party or go to bars or clubs so I m trying to decide what area would be best for me. I ve been focusing on the Upper East Side, I spent some time around there this summer and although some people say it s bring it s seems to be a nice pace for me. Any other areas I should check out that aren t extremely expensive (I m trying to get an apartment in the 1,500 - 1,650 range) and that would fit my life style? What is it like to live in Midtown or Greenwich Village?
Actually, there are lots of small places available on the Upper East Side. I mean small, like a one room studio. The village is much louder and more expensive.
The Upper East Side is the most expensive place to live..... you can t afford it. Sorry to burst your bubble..... but you probably can t afford most of Manhattan. Move to Brooklyn.
I think Chelsea would be more of a fit for your lifestyle and it s less expensive. Good luck on whatever you decide though! =)
