What is it like living in East Chicago, IN? -

particularly the north harbor section.hi, i have lived in gary all of my life. i kno how the crime is and i m used to it. i m married and currently looking for a place to stay. i don t wish to stay in gary, and have considered other city s i know better like hammond, highland, muster, merrillville, etc. i dont kno much about East Chicago. but i can not afford to live in these cities. i currently stumbled upon EC s new North Harbor Revitalization project. One of the projects are new construction townhomes that are low rent. they look very nice. what i want to know is what is East Chicago s North Harbor like? the townhomes are build on broadway in the city s North Harbor district. i want to know about this section of the city. like shopping, streets, and the overall feel for this section of the city.please i dont want comments from people who aren t from around here with ignorant claims that NWI is a dumphole or whatever. crime is everywhere people, get over it. im looking for real advice as to how people live in this area.thanxRead more: http://www.city-data.com/forum/northwest��

I ve always liked the East Chicago area. I m not too sure where the North harbor is, but I drive through there all the time because I head out to indiana to buy cigs..And hey, even you know it s better than gary. Since you live not too far, i would suggest driving out to the area and checking it out because you never really know what an area is really like until you are there.I m curious to know what the North Harbor is, i m gona check it out...
