Chances of getting into Northside Prep. in Chicago? -

Hello! Well, I am currently an eighth grader attempting to get into Northside Prep In Chicago, Il. I have a s in all my classes, a 4.33 grade average, and I scored a 99 in reading, and 93 in math on my isats. I have a stanine of 9 for each, even though the minimum for Northside is 5. My science teacher lives around the Kedzie area, and she told me not to be too hard on myself if I dont get in. She told me thousands of people apply, but only two hundred are accepted. My local igh school is TERRIBLE, so i am trying to ge tinto a selective enrollment school .So, what are my chances of getting in? How do they base their decision? PLEASE help me out, with these questions and other questions/answers related to this. Thanks! i am super nrervous and need help!

First of all it s great you got a 99 in reading, but they only count the reading comprehension part. Worst part is they don t even tell you. You have to do good on your entrance exam, especially the math portion. Which census tract are you located in 1,2,3,4? That helps determine on your acceptance. Be extremely careful though, missing 1percentile can ruin all your chances. This one person I know got 989 and was not accepted. I got 90 in reading comp. and 99 math, but I live in a lower census tract so that helps. You can find your census tract at selectiveenrollment.org if you haven t already. Other wise I d say you have a pretty good chance. Good Luck, hopefully we both can get in! I don t want to go to my neighborhood school wither. Mather...

you would have to do great on the selective enrollment test that is coming up soon, if you do good on that then you should get in. just so you know your current grades aren t looke at, they look at your 7th grade final grades. Good luck, and also, you can apply to four selective enrollment schools, i think you know that, walter payton is the hardest out of all to get into, then northside, then whitny young, so i hope you put whitney young as your second choice.
