Travel to Oregon in the Portland Area? -

I saw that the scenes from the twilight movie were mainly shot in oregon and it was beautiful. I was just wondering if someone could give me some idea about were to go ie restaurants, sigh seeing things for a vacation that are worthwhile. WHICH towns have beautiful scenery and other nice places worth visting on a vacation?

Hi!Oregon is my home, and have traveled much of the state. For Mountains: Sisters/Bend area is beautiful. It s considered a high desert, but if you want to see towering pines, beautiful lakes, and hike through gorgeous back country, this area is one of the best. However, it s about 3 hours from Portland - so you could go to Mt Hood, which is pretty too. For Ocean: I ve traveled down the Oregon Coast, and though I frequently go to Lincoln City (due to proximity) I like the Astoria and Warrenton area the best. It s scenic down the whole coast route, but there is more history in Astoria. Movies like The Ring, Kindergarten Cop, and The Goonies were filmed there. For Restaurants: I m not a fan of the size of Portland (prefer small towns), but Portland can t be beat for variety and higher end food places. If you want good food with large portions, travel South a bit to the Tualatin area for Claim Jumpers. Hope this helps

Molalla has the best Chinese restaraunt in the state, it is called Happy Family and there is a motel connected to it. Also, Molalla has a lot of forest land around it to visit, some very beautiful area just to the south of town. Near Lincoln City, there is a covered bridge it is on private property now but they allow people to look and walk through it. The waterfalls along I-84 are gorgeous and well worth a day trip to look at, soime of the prettier ones you need to walk to. Astoria in my opinion is the prettiest coastal town, of course I have not been all the way to the southern end of Oregon, and Tillamook is neat in the fact that the town is small and yet has a nice cheese factory and there are several remote beaches there. The entire Crater Lake area is worth the trip, and plan to camp out, there are not many hotels down in that area but the camping is great. Huge Douglas Firs and crystal clear water.

For general information about Twilight locations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twilight_%2For a full detailed list (but there s not much help for finding them): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1099212/locaMost of these locations you would encounter if you were visiting the Portland area and its sightseeing highlights: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourist_attThere used to be a tour company specializing in going to all the locations, but I can t find it nowmaybe it went out of business. As for beautiful scenery, it s almost everywhere in the state.

I would prefer the town of Seaside or Cannon Beach on the coast of Oregon. I also irecommend you go to Mt. Hood when the weather is good. Also, the Columbia River Gorge is breathtaking.

you should visit kalama Washington because kalama high school is the school they filmed twilight at
