Do you think this is why I got the New York/North NJ accent?????????? -

Well people say I have a New York/New Jersey accent. I live in Vermont though. My grandfather was born and raised in Brooklyn and has a heavy accent. I also have lots of family in the north NJ area who have somewhat of the accent. I spend a fairly good amount of time there in the summers, and I am around my grandfather who has the accent a lot. Could I have picked it up from that you think? Or what s the deal?

Well, it only takes about 30 days to create a habit (verbal habit, i mean) so an extended stay with them could create a slight accent. I have a similar thing. I m from NW Indiana and got a bit of a Chicago/Southern accent because my dad has a thick Chicago accent and my mother has a soft southern accent
