Open bars a legal in NYS only for private functions ... which means it could be done for your birthday party but only by contacting the bar management and making that arrangement. In order for them to do that, you d have to be able to guarantee a pretty decent crowd. The state s rule on open bars : http://www.abc.state.ny.us/unlimited-driA couple of years ago a friend of mine had a going away party at Fontana s on the Lower East Side where the attendees could pay a flat rate (I think $35) to get a wristband that allowed unlimited drinks. There were dozens of people and a band, so I don t know whether they would do it for anything smaller. But it might be worth asking:http://fontanasnyc.com/

21st birthday in NYC with Open Bar? -
I m turning 21 in January and I have no idea where to go to celebrate with my friends! I live on the east end of Long Island and I really wanted to go into the city with friends. Is there anywhere anyone recommends? Preferably with open bar, but if not it s not a big deal
