Cheap rent and Safe area near Tampa? -

My family is planning on moving near Tampa pretty soon, but we don t want to make the move if the area isn t safe enough. We were looking at the Brandon area, but the internet listings for rent make it seem a little too high. The most important factor is safety and affordability. We can afford about $800 a month, maybe $850, but no more than that...is there anywhere near Tampa that rents out that low that is still safe?
