Whale watching, halibut fishing, seeing the glaciers Alaska.? -

Where would be a good reasonable place to stay to get to do these three things in our stay in Alaska? Somewhere close to a town so my wife and grandmother might be able to do some shopping and me some fishing? While still doing some whale watching and see some glaciers?

Although many places fit the bill I am suggesting Seward AlaskaThere are some great companies out of there that do wildlife photo tours, and whale watching. In any small town you will not have malls and shopping; like you might be used to in the lower 48, but there are still great shops, local artist have galleries, and you can get local crafts as well.Seward is a very nice community, and has lots to offer. on the 4th of July the community really celebrates, that would be a fun time to be there. Also the Seavey family operates one of the best Dog Mushing tourist rides in the state. Here are some links to help you plan:http://www.sewardak.org/http://ididaride.com/http://www.alaskawhalewatchingtours.com/http://www.backcountrysafaris.com/alaska

Without a doubt, Seward is the best choice for a city to go to for all of these criteria.
