Driving from Los Angeles to Oregon? -

Going to be taking a trip to my mom s for Christmas. She s in Sweethome, Oregon (which is essentially near Salem/Albany area) and was thinking of doing a driving trip. My parents have done it many times during spring/summer, but never during the winter season. My husband and I have never drove in the snow (California natives) and was thinking about doing the 13-15 hour drive there. We plan on leaving very early Christmas Eve. What route would you recommend to avoid the most snow? Thanks.

You are pretty much stuck with I-5.

try us -101 it goes along the coast so no snow! it may be slower speed limits but you won t get snow that way!! I-5 you have mt. shasta and the mountains in south oregon to go over??
