I go there often for R R. Some of the movie was filmed in the town of Bodega and other parts were filmed in Bodega Bay. One of the restaurants in the movie, The Tides is still there and the outside has not change too much. If you go to the visitors center in Bodega Bay(right off highway 1), they will give you a ton of info on where to go to see many of the scenes that were filmed. All in all, both towns are very quaint and charming and a great place to go for a weekend.
I drove up the California coast in Jan 08 and, being a huge fan of the film, made a stop in Bodega and Bodega Bay. There s not much to see there, quite frankly. But if you continue up the coast, the landscape becomes very dramatic. It is a gorgeous part of the world and I am considering going back there for a bit this summer.
I have a colleague at work who referred to Bodega Bay as his most favorite place in the world.I went there. Nice small town on the coast. We had lunch in what I think was the only restaurant that served lunch - and it wasn t memorable. Frankly, I wasn t impressed.
The school house is still there and they have turned it into a gift shop! I was so excited to go in! I still have pictures.
It does not look like the set for the movie.
If it s just to see the film location, sure. There s not much there.
