My brother (single white gay male) has lived downtown for almost 20 years. He was mugged once about 12 years ago. I visit him frequently and we walk around downtown at all hours of the day or night, and I have never felt unsafe. Of course, there are parts where crime is more likely to occur, but if you use your head, stay out of alleys, don t buy drugs and stay aware of your surroundings, you are no more at risk in downtown Cincinnati than you would be in downtown Dayton, downtown Columbus, or downtown Cleveland. You will get a lot of mixed opinions on this subject, but I always ask one more question when someone wants to say how dangerous downtown is: when was the last time you were there? Opinions are worth more if they re based on personal experience, not hearsay. If you can find someone who lives downtown and thinks it s dangerous, then that s an opinion worth listening to. But if someone lives in the suburbs and hasn t set foot downtown in years, then their opinion is based merely on the media (which of course will hype up any crime in the slums of Over the Rhine) and not real experience.
Well I moved to Cincinnati from Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2006. Compared to Ann Arbor..Cincinnati is like.....detroit...not all of cincinnati..just downtown..i dont think you should move there.. i ve lived here for 3 years now and i d say you should move to a suburban area in the Greater Cincinnati Area such as Wyoming or Indian Hill or Mariemont...
