By now you know that your description was way off.I would define the area as the part of Manhattan between Central Park and the East River. (BTW, not really a river) That goes a little higher than some other people s description, but ask them... What area is between 96th street and 110th street?
When I visit NYC, I like the Village, LES, Soho, and Chelsea. I ve stayed in Midtown, and it s okay, but I like to stay south of 30th Street if I can help it, unless I m going to Candle Cafe at 3rd Avenue and 75th Street or one of the museums up there.
From E57th st to E95th st, and 5th avenue to FDR Drive is the upper East. 5th Avenue splits Manhattan East and West. My favorite part of town is the Flat Iron District/Union Square.
I like the Upper East Side, it s amazing!
