To get to Connecticut you can take a train from Grand Central every hour for $14 round trip. The terminal is really cool too. Something to see.SOHO is a great shopping district and just a cool area of NYC. Wonder to Canal Street. It has all the knock off bags you ll want and is attached on the East by Little Italy (amazing Italian restaurants), and china town.Right now Union Square (14th and Broadway) has a Christmas market set up in the middle and is so cute. Great park.Check out the store windows at Macy s on 34th and Broadway. Huge over the top displays.Rockefeller Center has the ice skating rink and giant beautiful Christmas tree.Dress warm, it s freezing in the winter!
i just came from newyork this summer it is so fun but exspensive make sure u take a tour on the ducks is like only 20 dollars it is realy fun and go to the max museum in newyork they have statues of michael jackson the rock and a bunch of celebrities i think you would like it!
don t do those duck tours, they re probably the tackiest tourist thing ever, but even though the wax museum is also very touristy, it s interesting to see how tall, skinny, fat, short your favorite celebs are, and the place is huge!
From NY to CT u can take the subway and u can know the directions from http://www.googlemaps.com And this link can help on what to do in NYC:http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-27Good luck!
Check out Frances tavern near Battery Park. It s where George Washington gave his farewell address to his commanding officers and one of the last remaining colonial houses in NYC.
Providence Rhode Island to New York transportation. Here is my research for Providence:Here are ways to get to Providence from New York:Please note this is my computer and phone research, but I have not been on these buses to Providence. I just wanted to post to help people out because it took a while to research. Although many buses exist for Boston, not as many options for Providence that are cheap.1. Greyhound bus:Greyhound is cheap. Usually companion fare of second traveller is half price. However the New York to Providence route stops at 5 stops and takes 5 hours and 45 minutes on some trips according to their schedule, stopping in New Haven, Foxwoods casino, Mohegan Sun casino, etc... On the return trip, there are some buses that take 3 hours 45minutes, so check the schedule and buy for that bus. It is about $57 round trip for first person, and about $28 round trip for second companion. Leaves from Port Authority bus terminal at 42nd street and 8th avenue in Manhattan. Note, that companion fares must be bought 3 days in advance.2. Peter Pan bus lines:Leaves from Manhattan s Port Authority Bus terminal. A little more expensive than Greyhound buses.3. Amtrak train:There is an Acela high speed train. Check for discounts if buying in advance. There is the regular Northeast Regional train. It is generally about $55 one way, but that low fare can sell out. There is a special discount code offered through the Rhode Island Tourism board or something with a similar name, I think the code is V174. That should give a 20% discount, and bring fare to possibly $43 one way, or $86 round trip. This is not badly priced for taking the train, only 3 hours and 25 minutes long.I think there may be a sale on some New York Boston trains for $49, see if it stops at Providence and if that price. Train is of course more comfy than bus.4. Local trains:Your best bet is the $43 one way fare on Amtrak or some other internet discount. But, suppose you already checked and those are not available. Here is what you can do.Take the Metronorth train from Grand Central Station (42nd and Lexington) all the way to the last stop on the New Haven line, which is New Haven. This costs between $14 and $24 one way depending on whether it is weekday peak time or weekend off peak time. Then, in New Haven, transfer to the local Connecticut train, called the Shoreline East. Take that to almost the end, in Old Saybrook, should be about $7. Do not take to the last stop of New London, because Amtrak trains do not go there often. From Old Saybrook, take the Amtrak train to Providence. This could cost about $23-$30. But, if booked in advance 3 days maybe with the V174 Rhode Island promotional AMtrak code, it could cost $14 one way.I have not tried the above. Look at the internet sites and try to arrange the times to see if they coordinate. It could take about 5 hours on this local way, because SHoreline east is local, and must wait to connect between three trains. It could be more expensive than AMtrak if you don t get the discounts too.Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun Chinatown bus:Take a bus from New York s chinatown, leaving from Chatham Square. This is the intersection where the following streets intersect: Bowery, Division, East Broadway, etc.... Buses generally leave every few hours probably. Check schedule. You probably spend about $18 for a round trip ticket on this bus. Then, cash in your voucher at the casino for $20 cash probably. But, the problem is you are still one hour from Providence. You can try to get the Greyhound bus from there, but you will find the price is similar to the price from NYC ($43 round trip instead of $57 probably), so this is not worth the hassle. But, great if you can get someone to pick you up just one hour from Providence at either casino!!!! But, don t gamble there!! Just eat the free meal!Haven t done this either. Just something for your research.5. Gonzalez bus lines:There is a Dominican van service leaving uptown Manhattan in Washinton Heights that goes to Providence a few times a day. It is $25 each way. Great if you only speak Spanish probably. Otherwise, too expensive for a van service. Don t know if this is small crowded van or big comfy van with aisle. Maybe bus is more comfortable.6. Heard there is something Called San Miguel Bus service, but not sure.7. Chinatown boston buses.Try to ask if they stop anywhere along the way, get them to drop you off, and have a friend pick you up 1 hour away. $15 each way. But, won t get you directly to Providence. I wouldn t waste my time going to Boston first. Not sure if they stop somewhere on the highway at a reststop halfway in Connecticut or something for 15 minutes, may be ok if you have a friend to pick you up, but not sure.8. Take the Chinatown bus to Boston, then take the local rail service to PRovidence. I wouldn t bother due to the extra time and traffic involved!!9. Check the
