How to dress in Washington D.C.? -

I m going on a school trip to DC next month and, being from the south, I don t really know how to dress for the weather. help?

This isn t one of those places where the weather changes dramatically throughout the day. If it s cold in the morning, it will probably be cold in the evening. I ve never been much for dressing in layers. I feel warm pretty much all the time so I wear a t-shirt year round BUT that t-shirt is covered up by a very thick coat. When I m in a building or on the subway, I can take my coat off and be fine. If you re going to be walking around a lot especially down by the monuments (right next to the Potomac River where temps are cooler) then that might be your best bet. You ll be cold outside but as soon as you go inside one of the museums you may find yourself getting hot. As far as the actual weather goes...It just depends. It was 60 degrees one day last week and then it snowed the very next day. The snow didn t stick but that just shows how screwy the weather can be. In January we get some weird days where its around fifty for no apparent reason and then it goes right back to the 30s. I d bring extra clothes and then dress based on the temp that morning and allow maybe a 5-10 degree increase throughout the day. Bring an umbrella too b/c when it rains, it basically rains all day or periodically throughout the day and for two or three days at a time. It s not like Florida where it rains and then dries up instantly into a nice sunny day.

It will be cold so:Dress in layers because it will be cold. You cannot take off half a coat. This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America. Please pick an answer as the best answer, even if it is not mine.
