First, the good news: there are only 6 Hawaiian islands that you can choose from. Now, the bad news: it is awfully hard to decide which island deserves your attention since each island seems beautiful and fascinating, and your vacation lasts only that many days.Maui, the Magic Isle, is all about variety. With magnificent sunsets, 42 miles of shimmering uncrowded beaches, luxury resorts, and wilderness areas where few outsiders have ever set foot, this island has something for everyone. You can drive down the famous road to Hana that passes verdant rainforests and waterfalls, watch the sunrise over Haleakala Crater ( The House of the Rising Sun ), hike the rugged North Shore, or browse through a multitude of shops and art galleries in an old whaling town called Lahaina. Maui has an amazing choice of ocean activities, including fantastic diving and snorkeling. In winter, you can watch the humpback whales play and breach in the ocean. Oahu is best known for Honolulu and Waikiki Beach where you will find plenty of shopping, dining, and thriving nightlife. Other famous attractions include Pearl Harbor, Polynesian Cultural Center, and Sea Life Park. You can hike up the Diamond Head for a spectacular 360-degree view of the island, snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of Hanauma Bay, discover the underwater world during a submarine dive, or sail into the sunset on a dinner cruise. There is no bad choice.
