I am a New Yorker who has never lived in LA, but the advantages of New York include the ability of non-drivers to get everywhere, especially important if you are elderly, young or physically handicapped.New York appeals to those who want to experience 4 seasons, including a glorious Fall and cherry blossoms in the Spring.New York is much lower in Crime.New York s food is world renowned.New York is less segregated by race, social class, religion and occupation than LA.No doubt a Los Angeles resident can chime in with the advantages of LA.

They re total opposites, so it s more a reflection of your personality than the city... but for me:I love the weather, the beaches, the laid-back attitude, and the youth of LA. The car culture sucks, but it s generally worth it.I love the infrastructure, culture, and history in New York - but I can t stand the vibe. Manhattanites are ungodly pretentious, Jeresy trash is unbearable. So I d say LA by a reasonable margin. But I d take Chicago, Boston, or San Francisco over LA in a heartbeat.
