Where to move, NY or LA!( or suggest other) HEELP!? -

hello im planning to move to usa when i finish high school, im currently in 9th grade, i live in portugal and i want to be a forensic scientist. there are no college here that teach us that, so i really need to go there. where should i move, ny or la? my dad is going to give me about 2400 dollars in the beginning but im willing to work if i need. well, help ! ;)

You will have to work at either of those places guaranteed, its just to expensive to live there without working, so be prepared for a college job. You are in 9th grade which gives you plenty of time to look into both options and plenty of time to change your mind on what you want to do when you get older. Even though you may have your mind set on being a forensic scientist now, but be close minded to new ideas or opportunitues. But now to actually answer your question. I am going to have to make some generalizations here, but I think its necessary to answer your question. So, in general, LA has nice weather and fairly laid back people and lifestyle. The downside is that there are large amounts of pollution/smog and the public transportation in incomparable to that of NYC. The city is very spread out, so even if you do or do not use public transportation it takes longer to get places. And some cliques in LA can be pretty materialistic, even more so than NYC (which is saying something). Now for NYC. Well NYC can be very materialistic as well, but there is a healthier appreciation for the struggling artists and career seekers there. It is widely known that it is easier to get around using public transportation than a car in NYC (big plus for college students) The public transportation is really second to none, and there are MANY good colleges in NYC, including NYU and Columbia to name two. NYC weather is not nearly as nice as LA s but it is seldom an inconvenience when getting around. Hope this all helped, and honestly to give my personal opinion, I think that you would enjoy NYC much better than LA.
