That is one hell of a bus journey down to Texas and not one I would think of as very interesting. Really you need to think of the main things you want to see and do the long journeys by plane. Middle America is fairly dull. I d personally fly from Chicago to somewhere in Colorado, which is beautiful. Check out Garden of the Gods and the mountains. Bus ride to the Grand Canyon. Bus again to Las Vegas and on from there to Callifornia. LA is horrid, worth a look in but too sprawling and hard to get around, better to head north to San Francisco via some of the National Parks - see the Sequoia trees etc. I hope this is helpful. It s a trip I made 20 odd years ago and loved it. Particularly Colorado - did a rat trip along the Colorado River and through the Canyon, camping overnight in the Grand Canyon. Stunning, once in a lifetime stuff.

Travelling from Boston to California by plane and bus....advice please!!!? -
So far I plan to fly from, Boston to New York to Washington to Chicago to Canada back to Chicago then bus it south heading to Illinois. Then i plan to bus (Greyhound etc) it all around the surrounding areas over to Texas. I have no specific areas as yet as to where in and around Texas way, I intend to play it by ear. But areas such as Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana etc. I have a good deal of time space allocated fr this part of my trip and assuming I m not advised that bus/coach travel around these areas s a bad idea, I m fine with spending time on board. From Texas I plan to go to either Arizona or straight to California and spend the remainder or my time here, perhaps 3-4 weeks as i have friends spread all over CA.Any advice anyone can give, Cheap travel/accommodation, Do s, Don ts, Must See s, Must Not s etc would be gratefully received. I m intend to have the majority of my trip thoroughly planned before I leave the UK, in hope that this way as little as possible can go wrong. Thanks for taking the time to read my question(s)Warm regardsHayley (An excited traveller)
