Is Central Park a place where most New York people go in to do many activities to keep physically fit? -

Central Park is a great place for activities. Aside from running or walking there are the bike paths, the Great Lawn hosts a number of softball leagues during the summer. There are outdoor classes such as yoga and tai chi In the northern part of the park there is a public pool during the summer and in the southern part there is and ice rink in the winter. However a large part of New Yorkers don t live near enough for it to be convenient. Many New Yorkers also prefer the social interaction that gyms, sports clubs, and fitness studios can offer. If you re just looking for great place for activity try Chelsea Piers. It has the widest variety of activity available in the city. From a rock climbing wall, to martial arts, to classes, boxing, swimming, golfing, ice skating, bowling, and an amazing traditional fitness center. The draw back though is it out of the way and can be expensive.

No, most ny people go to gyms. Those who live near the park may go for a jog there, though many go to jog there from other parts of ny but not on the regular.

considering the fact that for me to get there it s a hour on the subway-NO. (and I live in relatively western queens)

Yup.. you got it. you might even see a celebrities or two..
