It s fine! If you re looking at a UC or CalState, consider that the fee is much higher for non-residents, and will be going up even higher soon. Most colleges are in OK neighborhoods, some aren t, but generally it s all fine. You may want to ask about specific colleges.I wouldn t live here if it weren t safe! They re probably just being family and friends, concerned about your well being, but don t really realize it s fine here. And they re worried they d miss you. Good luck!
ok...the LA metro area is HUGE. LA alone is 4 million people. so with that said, being such a large city, there are some bad areas and some very nice areas. most colleges are in good areas. think about it california has more college students than any state. the chances of you being a victim of a crime like rape/robbery/murder is miniscule. every state is dangerous. in face there are a lot more dangerous cities than LA. so my point is, don t let safety be an issue when choosing a college in CA. all of the good schools are in good areas with the acception of USC, and those people are fine...
Don t believe everything you see on TV. Last major quake was in 1994. The wildfires burn the hillsides where only a few people live. And there are MANY areas without high crime rates (see www.lalife.com). Not a ploy, but the networks know that fear and sensationalism sell. Nobody s going to do a news item that says millions of people in SoCal lead happy, uneventful lives.
Yes, it is a relatively safe state to go to college in. It is also an EXTREMELY expensive state to go to college in. The non resident tuition fees you will pay will be roughly 2 1/2 times more than those of residents and illegal aliens. Fees for the U C system will be increasing another 32% next semester. If you have mucho bucks come on out. Please if you come do NOT call our state Cali Most of us (except West of Encino) consider that term insulting in what it implies (Cali is a drug city in South America). We call our state Cal .
LOL, yes, it s perfectly safe. Earthquakes aren t a big deal anymore because most buildings are earthquake-proof, so they are funny more than anything else. Fires can be an issue if you live out in the wilderness. Crime rates... well, crime happens everywhere, and California s crime rate is about the national average.
Ugh! Here we go again.Wild fires happen far away from cities. While we can t control earthquakes, it s not like we feel them everyday neither. The crime rates are in poor cities.Turn off the idiot box please!
It is safe, but tuition and fees are going up drastically each semester as the state continues to have budget issues.
I live in California and I m still alive... California is safe, just watch out for the bullets.
