Your $10000 - $15000 estimate is adequate to last you about 3 months tops. Your BIGGEST problem is that California is in a recession and has the 2nd highest unemployment rates in the country. Jobs here are almost non existent. You could easily spend all of your funds before you were able to find work. Things here are also about 50% more than in Pennsylvania. Just starting out you can t earn enough to live here by yourself. A modest studio apartment in a decent area will start in the $1000 -$1200 a month range. You would probably need 2 or 3 roommates, and that creates a problem itself.

Start up cost moving to california? -
okay i know im a little ahead of myself, im a freshman in college, i will graduate in 2013. I currently go penn state university. I have always wanted to live in california my whole life, have been there more times than i can count. Im gonna start saving up for it now! I already have close to 5,000 dollars but i dont want to touch that money at all. I was thinking of opening another account to start saving, ill only use the other money only if it is absoluetly neccessary and i need some extra cash. I plan to use transportation to move my car. I want to live and work there. So how much do you think i would need for start up cost, i was thinkin at least 10,000- 15,000 dollars?
