How do you just get up and move states? -

I own a business in los angeles but want to move to new york. How do i move all of my stuff there? especially all the stuff for the business? (ITS TONS!) do we get uhauls or how does that work? and how muc do you think it would cost to move everything?

If you have a semi truck full of stuff you would benefit yourself to call a trucking company like Swift or JB Hunt, if you have less than a truck load you need to talk to ask their rate for an LTL but neither Swift or JB Hunt is good for LTL s, for those you should try a smaller outfit like Watkins Sheperd, Here is there info. Watkins Shepard Trucking Incwww.wksh.com - (406) 728-6121Most companies will move it, but you will need to arrange to have it loaded and unloaded. Watkins Sheperd may load and unload for a fee if you have everything packed up. It is usually best to have a forklift and a loading ramp or forklift and crate dolly, most do not hand load any more. If you have a CDL or know of someone who does, you can rent a truck from Penske or possibly from United or Ryder and take everything by large truck, For a full semi load expect to pay around $2.00 per mile. For LTL loads expect to be paying around $1.00 per mile for half load or $.75 per mile on 1/4 load. To rent the truck it will cost a lot more in the long run than to hire a shipping company like Watkins Shepperd or Swift. You can also look at local trucking companies, if you have a full load you can also post it simply type in posting a load for trucks on google and it will give you several sites some that are free or have free trial periods which would work well for you since it is a one time thing, and it will post it to several different dispatchers or brokers. Expect to call around a few different places to get the best price and plan to haggle a little. You can talk them down simply because a lot of eastern trucks are looking for loads to get them home. It is always easier to get a load from the east coast going west than it is to get a load from the west coast going all the way to the east coast. You can use this information to your advantage. Also, plan on moving all your household items with your business to save money. The closer you come to filling up a truck the better your chances are at getting it moved. A full truck load or paying as if it were a full truck load will give you more people who are willing to haul it for you. For a full truck load that you will load and load plan on around a $4500 bill. or an LTL of $3000. Sometimes it is just easier to pay for the full load.

As a business owner you shouldn t have to ask us the best way to make the move. You must have financial advisers who can tell you how much it would cost to move, the least expensive way and if it would be more economical to sell the equipment and replace things once you find a location in NY.

i think with u haul it cost per mile. i moved from chicago to texas n it was expensive and things got destroyed. good luck.
