Check out the Leonard Heights/Near West Side neighborhood. A lot of the old warehouses and factories are being redeveloped and converted to apartments and condos, but there are still plenty abandoned ones too. Or you could check out the area southwest of downtown; not sure what the neighborhood is called, but if you take US 131 to the Market Street exit and go away from downtown, there are many abandoned buildings. I d be careful going there though, lots of homeless people, gangs, prostitutes, etc. I m not sure about Kalamazoo, but usually the bigger the city, the more abandoned buildings you ll find.
I don t know if you ll find many abandoned buildings in those two cities that wouldn t have some form of security on the premises. But try anyplace near railroad tracks.
Come over to Detroit for the day. I guarantee you will fin an abandoned building. There is no other city quite like it. Check out the abandoned train station!
