You can go back to a manned booth, tell the toll collector that you missed the toll and need to pay it. He or she will give you a receipt. Hold onto it. I know exactly what you re talking about the last toll both on the AC Expressway heading towards Atlantic City. If I were you I wouldn t do anything unless you get a notice in the mail. If you do get a notice pay the toll and let that be that. Sometimes the cameras don t pick up the license plate numbers and so if this is the case you got a toll free ride this time and don t have to give that scumbag governor Corzine your money. But on a lighter note don t feel bad...you accidently drove through the express EZ Pass lane, happens all the time
The toll roads all have systems for paying the toll after the fact. They are designed for those who found they didn t have enough money, or (like you) missed the toll booth. Do a search for the toll road on the state web site and you ll find a way to pay tolls. They normally allow a grace period of from 2 to 7 days, so don t wait. The fine for ignoring them is much more than the toll.I ve had to do that in IL and FL, but I ve seen websites listed at toll plazas in the other states as well.
